According to Bob Arum, Emanuel Navarrete and Oscar Valdez have reached an agreement to fight one other in the year 2023. It’s possible that the battle will go down on February 3rd.
Although Arum, the promoter of Top Rank, claims that they have not yet decided where the fight would take place, both boxers have indicated that they are willing to participate in the match.
WBO featherweight champion Navarrete (36-1, 30 KOs) will defend his title against the recently dethroned former two-division world champion Valdez. Valdez is a former world champion in both featherweight and super featherweight divisions (30-1, 23 KOs).

In April of 2018, Valdez, age 31, was defeated by Shakur Stevenson, champion of the WBC super featherweight division, and lost his WBO super featherweight title. In theory, this is going to be a tough fight for Valdez, but he has already defeated power hitters in the past, such as Scott Quigg and Miguel Berchelt, so he has already demonstrated that he is capable of doing so.
Oscar will need to shed some weight in order to compete against Navarrete at 126 pounds, but this shouldn’t be too much of a challenge considering that he just needs to get rid of four pounds of body fat.
