OKBET XPRESS | Oscar Valdez and Emanuel Navarrete To Fight On February 3

According to Bob Arum, Emanuel Navarrete and Oscar Valdez have reached an agreement to fight one other in the year 2023. It’s possible that the battle will go down on February 3rd.

Although Arum, the promoter of Top Rank, claims that they have not yet decided where the fight would take place, both boxers have indicated that they are willing to participate in the match.

WBO featherweight champion Navarrete (36-1, 30 KOs) will defend his title against the recently dethroned former two-division world champion Valdez. Valdez is a former world champion in both featherweight and super featherweight divisions (30-1, 23 KOs).

Valdez

In April of 2018, Valdez, age 31, was defeated by Shakur Stevenson, champion of the WBC super featherweight division, and lost his WBO super featherweight title. In theory, this is going to be a tough fight for Valdez, but he has already defeated power hitters in the past, such as Scott Quigg and Miguel Berchelt, so he has already demonstrated that he is capable of doing so.

Oscar will need to shed some weight in order to compete against Navarrete at 126 pounds, but this shouldn’t be too much of a challenge considering that he just needs to get rid of four pounds of body fat.

It takes a lot of guts for Valdez to take on the dangerous Navarrete, who is widely considered to be the best featherweight boxer currently competing. In the past two years, Valdez has chosen the difficult path, engaging in battle with the following opponents:

  • Shakur Stevenson
    Robson Conceicao
  • Miguel Berchelt

“I believe that both competitors have consented to battle each other. Regarding Oscar Valdez and Emanuel Navarrete agreeing to fight on February 3rd, Bob Arum expressed to Fighthype that the question that arises is “what venue.”

“Brad Jacobs of Top Rank has been having conversations with a Mexican company about either doing it in Mexico City or, if not, doing it in Los Angeles or Phoenix, but that fight is definitely going to take place.

“Wow, that is quite extraordinary. These gentlemen don’t waste their time, that’s for sure. There will be a lot of blows exchanged in this fight. It brings back fond memories of the Morales-Barrera administration.

“He’s a fierce fighter. Oscar, it is common knowledge that he is a wonderful person and that he is an excellent boxer. Additionally, he is an outstanding fighter and a true warrior.

According to Arum, “So it seems like a real warrior wants to be tried, and Valdez wants to be tested, and who better to test him than Navarrete?”

It shouldn’t come as a surprise if Navarrete is defeated by Valdez because he hasn’t competed against someone with Valdez’s level of ability before. Isaac Dogboe x 2, Christopher Diaz, and Joet Gonzalez have been some of the toughest opponents that Navarrete has encountered to this point.
